Three Senegalese football fans have been released from prison in Morocco after serving a three-month sentence linked to violence during the AFCON final.

The men were freed on Saturday from Al Arjat 2 prison in Rabat. They were transported in a gendarmerie vehicle to a police station near Salé, where formalities were completed before their official release.

Upon leaving the station, they were received by members of the Senegalese embassy.

Their defence lawyer, Patrick Kabou, expressed gratitude for the role played by diplomatic and consular authorities.

In a message posted on X ahead of their release, he also urged the public to offer support to the men as they reintegrate into society after their time in prison.

A French national of Algerian origin was also released on Saturday after serving a similar three-month sentence for throwing a water bottle during the final.
