Galatasaray S.K. president, Dursun Özbek has opened up on the remarkable financial efforts involved in securing the permanent transfer of Victor Osimhen from SSC Napoli.
Speaking about the transfer, Özbek detailed the complexity of the deal and the personal sacrifices made to bring Osimhen to Istanbul.
“He had a €75 million release clause, and we started the transfer process accordingly.
“Napoli requested a guarantee for Osimhen’s club. I’ve never seen anything like that before. They used the General Manager of UniCredit, who is a partner with Koç, as their guide.”
The Galatasaray president also revealed that he personally contributed financially to ensure the move was completed.
“We paid part of it upfront, and I provided part from my own company. €35 million from my own company… In that sense, it was a very difficult transfer. Osimhen showed with his performance that he deserved this money.”
Özbek further emphasized the club’s determination to keep the Nigerian striker for the long term following his outstanding impact since arriving in Turkey.
“Now, Osimhen is making a second generation of Galatasaray fans. We’re so glad we signed him… We don’t intend to sell Victor Osimhen! Putting a price on a player you don’t intend to sell is like dressing a footballer before he’s even born…”
Osimhen initially joined Galatasaray on loan ahead of the 2024–25 season before making his move permanent during the 2025–26 campaign.

Since arriving in Istanbul, the Nigerian forward has delivered exceptional performances, scoring 61 goals and providing 16 assists in 75 appearances across all competitions.
His influence has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s recent dominance in Turkish football.
During his two-year spell at the club, Osimhen helped the team secure back-to-back Turkish Süper Lig titles, while also playing a key role in their Turkish Cup triumph during the 2024–25 campaign.
The Nigerian international has quickly established himself as one of the most important players at the club, becoming a fan favourite.
