Nottingham Forest produced a strong away performance to defeat Chelsea FC 3–1 at Stamford Bridge, with Taiwo Awoniyi delivering a standout display.

Forest struck early in the 2nd minute when Dilane Bakwa delivered a precise cross into the box, and Awoniyi rose above his marker Trevoh Chalobah to head home and give the visitors the lead.

The Nigerian forward was involved again in the 19th minute.

After beating Malo Gusto, he was pulled back inside the box, leading referee Anthony Taylor to award a penalty.

Although Awoniyi was initially set to take it, he allowed Igor Jesus to step up, and the Brazilian calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to extend Forest’s advantage.

Awoniyi then added his second goal in the 52nd minute, finishing a low cross from Morgan Gibbs-White with a composed strike to further seal control of the match.

Chelsea managed a late consolation goal in stoppage time through an acrobatic finish from close range, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

Beyond his goals, Awoniyi was influential throughout the match, linking play effectively, contributing defensively, and consistently troubling Chelsea’s back line with his movement and strength.

Despite limited game time this season, with only 360 Premier League minutes played, he has now registered four goals and one assist.
