Yesterday, reports emerged that Liverpool FC Sporting Director Richard Hughes had reportedly received an official offer from Al-Hilal, fresh off an acquisition by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, after months of speculation that the Saudi club were eyeing him to be their new Sporting Director.
The tweet says: “As we mentioned .. Al-Hilal will announce, through the new owner Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, the signing of the Scottish “Richard Hughes” to take on the role of the club’s sporting director.“
However, about a hour later, denials were hot off the English press:
I… honestly have no strong feelings on the matter. What I will say is in a summer where more upheaval is expected in the player and potentially coaching departments, it is not particularly shocking that FSG will want the current directors to stay.
