As the disappointing 2025-26 season nears its end and Liverpool FC prepare to host Chelsea this Saturday in the Premier League, several of head coach Arne Slot’s players remain injury doubts.
Key stars including Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Alisson Becker, and Giorgi Mamardashvili were all widely reported as absent from Liverpool training on Wednesday.
Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor also added to the bad news with a report that centre half Ibrahima Konaté and attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz were also not seen in training mid-week. Konate and Wirtz reportedly did not take part in the main training session but, unlike the other absentees, in their cases they instead were simply working away from the main group.
Which does hopefully mean there’s a chance that we might end up with better reports as we near the weekend, at least when it comes to the possibility of Konate and Wirtz taking part in Saturday’s match where a win for the Reds could mathematically secure them with Champions League qualification for next season.
