Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team have arrived in Pretoria, ahead of their 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second-round, first-leg qualifier against South Africa’s Bantwana on Saturday.

The team landed at OR Tambo International Airport in the early hours of Thursday and had a surprise reception, as they were received by Cameroon football legend and President of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o Fils.

Eto’o’s Words of Encouragement

Eto’o, a four-time African Player of the Year, took time to meet and encourage the young Nigerian players.

The former Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea striker shook hands with the squad, posed for a group photograph, and shared words of motivation with the teenage footballers.

Match Details and Nigeria’s Road to the U-17 Women’s World Cup

The first leg of the qualifier will take place in Pretoria on March 8, 2025, while the return leg is scheduled for Nigeria later in the month.

The Flamingos are aiming to secure a spot at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, continuing their proud tradition in the competition.

Nigeria’s U-17 girls will be looking to make a strong statement against their South African counterparts in their quest for a place at the global tournament.
